SONE STEENKAMP-JONKER N.DIP VET TECH, B.TECH VET TECH, M.TECH VET TECH - STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE
Sone is a technologist at the Tshwane University of Technology in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, since 2010. Her main duties include presenting practical lectures (mainly service subjects), assisting with research projects of post-graduate students, general running, safety aspects, budget planning, general administrations of the laboratories for the department, the procurement processes for the programme as well as the departmentís laboratories which are run utilising the Veterinary Grant and university funding.
She is the Chairperson for the TUT Animal Research Ethics Committee (AREC) since 2014 and was also a member of the Research Ethics Committee (REC).
Previously she was a senior technologist in charge of Virology and preformed quality control for the Serology department at Deltamune Centurion in the diagnostic division. (March 1995 until June 2006). She continued as senior technologist performing and assisting with research projects to develop viral vaccines for livestock at Deltamune Roodeplaat research facility (July 2006 until December 2009).
She is a registered Veterinary Technologist at the South African Veterinary Council and is the students representative member of the South African Association of Veterinary Technologists management committee (SAAVT).During her free time she loves to travel, read, swim, enjoy nature and spend time with her husband, two children, family and friends and animals.
